Parliament House has a number of rooms and other areas that may be hired for functions, exhibitions, conferences and meetings subject to the approval of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.  In cases where Parliament House facilities are hired by external organisations, commercial rates apply. Inquiries relating to Parliament House facilities should be directed to the Functions Officer.

Speaker's Green

The Speaker's Green is a turfed terrace on the Esplanade side of Parliament House featuring the Memorial Fountain and overlooking Darwin Harbour. It is available for daytime and evening events for a maximum of four hours.

Liberty Square

Liberty Square includes the grassed area on the south-east side of Parliament House, and is adjacent to the Supreme Court and The Esplanade.  The square has a view of Government House, which is a heritage-listed tropical building dating from 1871.

Dining Room and Nitmiluk Lounge

The Main Dining Room (approximately 340 sqm) when combined with the Nitmiluk Lounge (approximately 90 sqm) on level 4 has access to two balconies overlooking the harbour and CBD and can accommodate up to 228 people.  When used as a dining room alone, it can accommodate up to 160 people and has access to one balcony.

Northern Territory Library

Entry to the Northern Territory Library is through the Historic Lobby off the Main Hall. The Library provides reference and research services to the Northern Territory community and has an extensive Northern Territory Collection. Because it is a reference library, there is no capacity for borrowing books.

Opening hours for the Northern Territory Library are from 10am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays and 1pm to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

This is the retail outlet of the Crafts Council of the Northern Territory and is located in the main foyer of Parliament House.

All items available for sale in the shop have been crafted by Northern Territory artists.

Subject to the availability of volunteer staff, the craft shop is open from 09.30am to 3.30pm Mondays to Fridays and from 9am to 2pm on Saturdays.
