222. Sexual Assault Taskforce
Ms Carney to MINISTER for Justice and Attorney-General
QUESTIONI would be grateful if you would provide the answers to the following questions in relation to the Justice Department's Budget for 2004-05. In order to assist you, please note that this question relates to output group: 4.0 Community Services (4.6: Office of Crime Prevention).
1. In your speech in Parliament on 20th May in support of the Budget, you advised that the Office of Crime Prevention (OCP) would ‘participate in the development of a sexual assault prevention plan with the newly established Sexual Assault Taskforce’ -
(a) What will be the nature and extent of the participation;
(b) How many staff in the OCP will be directly involved in the development of the sexual assault prevention plan, and what is his/her/their level of expertise;
(c) Will the prevention plan be circulated to relevant stakeholders and other experts in the area of sexual assault for comment prior to finalisation and adoption by Government? If not, why not; and
(d) When do you expect the prevention plan to be finalised.
