Mr Tollner to MINISTER for Parks and Wildlife

QUESTION
      For the Windows on the Wetlands visitor experience:
        (a) What was the attendance, by month, in 2007, 2008 and 2009;
        (b) how much did the NT government contribute to the operation of the activity in 2009;
        (c) how much was spent on capital investment in 2009;
        (d) how much was spent on park maintenance in 2009;
        (e) what was the total visitor revenue for the experience in 2009;
        (f) what proportion of revenue can be attributed to expenditure by interstate/international or local visitors;
        (g) how many staff are employed at the Windows on the Wetlands;
        (h) what are the position levels for these staff; and
        (i) how much was expended in 2009 on work done by contractors at the Windows on the Wetlands.

      2009-10 expenditure is expected to be: Operations $135 000
                          Salaries $214 000
      $349 000

      (c) How much was spent on capital investment in 2009.

      Minor New Works $20 000.


      (d) How much was spent on park maintenance in 2009.

      Approximately $45 000 on repairs and maintenance program and $20 000 on grounds maintenance.

      (e) What was the total visitor revenue for 2009.

      Revenue generated by visitors in 2009-10 is expected to be $95 000 for special functions and tours, however the facility is generally free entry.

      (f) What proportion of revenue can be attributed to expenditure by
      interstate / international or local visitors.

      This information is not available.

      (g) How many staff are employed at Window on the Wetlands.

      There are two permanent positions and usually three casual guides.

      (h) What are the position levels for these staff.

      The Supervisor is Technical 2 with all other staff at the Technical 1 level.

      (i) How much was expended in 2009 on work done by contractors at the Window on the Wetlands.

      Approximately $42 000.
