QUESTION
- In relation to the recent announcements on investment in public housing, social housing and affordable housing:
(a) how many dwellings will have construction fully funded by the Commonwealths contribution of $55M;
(b) how much is the NT Government’s financial contribution to the 200 dwellings that have been reported;
(c) how many dwellings to be constructed require a non-government sector organisation contribution;
(d) how many dwellings to be constructed require a private sector organisation or private individual contribution;
(e) for each project that requires a non-government sector contribution, what is the type of contribution (financial or other) required;
(f) for each project that requires a private sector or private individual contribution, what is the type of contribution (financial or other) required;
(g) what is the location of each dwelling to be constructed under the scheme;
(h) how many dwellings, as of 1 April 2010, are under construction and where are they located; and
(i) how many dwellings are yet to have a tender for construction issued, or if non-government or private sector, are yet to have construction started.

ANSWER
Answered on 14/05/2010
- (a) 208 dwellings.
(b) The majority of the funding for the 200 units of accommodation stems from the Stimulus Program. The Northern Territory Government’s financial contribution to the 200 units of accommodation due to be constructed by 31 December 2010 is $5.8 m.
(c) 40 dwellings.
(d) Nil.
(e) The contribution from Non-government organisations towards the construction of the 40 dwellings is the land on which the dwellings will be constructed.
(f) Not applicable (refer d).
(g) & (h) Table 1 (below) shows the location of the dwellings and their current status under the Social Housing Initiative.
