The following website provides information to the public in regard to builders licensing and certification:

http://www.ntlis.nt.gov.au/building-practitioners/

For each year 2008, 2009 and 2010 (year to date):

How many unique visitors used the website;
How many unique page views were made;
How many queries of the public register database were made;
What was the daily average number of visits; and
On what basis, in reference to timeframes, is the database updated.

How many unique visitors used the website:

This question asks, for each time period, how many different individuals accessed the above web page. The database does not record individuals per se, but records the ‘user ID’ of the computer used by the visitor to access the site.

The database records the user ID access for the previous 59 days when accessed through the above link.

The unique number of visitors to the above link for the period 7 March 2010 to
5 May 2010 is 2522. This equates to an average of 43 unique visitors per day.

How many unique page views were made:

A unique page view is defined as the sum of all pages that are requested on all visits. The recording of this statistic commenced on 17 March 2008, accordingly only partial statistics can be provided for the 2008 calendar year.

The statistics are as follows:
17 March 2008 to 31 December 2008: 45 092
1 January 2009 to 31 December 2009: 109 407
1 January 2010 to 5 May 2010: 35 580

How many queries of the public register database were made:

This question relates to the number of searches of the database through the above link. As for unique page views, the recording of this statistic commenced on 17 March 2008, accordingly only partial statistics can be provided for the 2008 calendar year.

The statistics are as follows:
17 March 2008 to 31 December 2008: 37 596
1 January 2009 to 31 December 2009: 72 923
1 January 2010 to 5 May 2010: 20 120

These figures include the initial search result screen and the subsequent viewing of secondary screens that provide further information.

What was the daily average number of visits:

This question is taken to mean the average number of daily visits where the visitor has used the database for an initial search (compared to only looking at the screen and not performing a search). This value is calculated by dividing the statistics for the initial search of the database by the corresponding days. These values are:
17 March 2008 to 31 December 2008: 41
1 January 2009 to 31 December 2009: 63
1 January 2010 to 5 May 2010: 39

On what basis, in reference to timeframes, is the database updated:

The database is updated as part of a business process each time a registration has been issued, suspended or cancelled following a decision by the Building Practitioners Board.

The links above provide direct access to the database and changes are immediately available for searching.
