Sport and Recreation funding for financial year 2003/2004 for Mutitjulu Community Incorporated (Mutitjulu Community) under Local Government Bodies Grant Developing Your Community is $12,000.

The outcome statement for Mutitjulu approved by the Minister is, "Retention of the services of current youth and recreation officer and continued professional growth through training and working in a collaborative manner for the betterment of the community. Continued training and motivation for the youth and recreation crew".

The community makes the decision about how best to achieve this outcome, in this instance the outcomes are being achieved through the: "employment of a suitable person(s) to coordinate the provision of appropriate sport and recreation opportunities within the local community in line with Office of Sport and Recreation and Council objectives". The current Office of Sport and Recreation Officer’s position is part-time.

Local Government Councils can also apply for funding under the Office of Sport and Recreation’s Grass Roots Development Grants Program, which has two funding rounds. The first round closed 30 January 2004, the second round of funding closes 31 August 2004.
