My question is directed to the Minister for Industries and Development who, we are told, will be the new Chief Minister. In the past, the Minister for Industries and Development has supported publicly concepts such as freedom of information legislation and improved and expanded disclosure legislation. Now that the greatest impediment to these proposals has announced his intention to resign, can the minister assure Territorians that, should he become Chief Minister, he will introduce legislation in these areas?
ANSWER
Mr Speaker, the Leader of the Opposition is getting a little ahead of himself. The only matter he had right about his whole question was that he addressed it to the Minister for Industries and Development. That is exactly what I am. What may transpire subsequently is a matter for the party room.
