Department of the Legislative Assembly, Northern Territory Government

Mr BAILEY - 1994-06-28

Is the Chief Minister aware that the new member for Brennan has already adopted the arrogant, rude and presumptuous behaviour of his predecessor? Mr Speaker, I seek leave to table a letter of complaint about the member's behaviour at the Palmerston Leisure Centre.

Leave granted.

Mr BAILEY: Has the member for Brennan apologised yet to the manageress of the leisure centre for his conduct? Does the Chief Minister think that

the member for Brennan's behaviour is appropriate for a member of this House? Is the Chief Minister aware also that the member for Brennan is in dispute with the Department of Defence because he refuses to vacate his Army house? Is the Chief Minister aware of any other continuing behavioural or psychological problems that the member for Brennan has experienced since becoming a civilian?

ANSWER

Mr Speaker, in my admittedly inexpert opinion, there is only one person in this House who is in need of a little psychological attention. In regard to the member's allegations, I will obtain information and advise the House. I point out that the member ought to read standing orders closely before making allegations about members of parliament to ensure that he has it exactly right when he pulls a stunt like this in the future. I will seek the information and provide it in due course.
