What were the results of the investigations by the Power and Water Authority into the incidence of iron bacteria in bores in the Darwin rural area? How many bores were inspected and sampled? Was this done at the invitation of owners or was it obligatory? What was the actual number of bores affected and what treatment has been recommended by the Power and Water Authority?

Mr Speaker, it is a rather complex issue to deal with in these circumstances. I can appreciate that the honourable member is concerned on behalf of her constituents whose water supply is through their own bores. It is of immense importance given the need for a safe and secure water supply. I will undertake to obtain that information for the honourable member and will write to her with a detailed report as soon as is possible.
