Mr HATTON (Aboriginal Development): Mr Speaker, during Question Time last week, the member for MacDonnell wanted to know the details of leaseback with regard to the Lake Amadeus settlement.
I am advised by the Department of Law that a confidentiality clause prevents the release of any information without the consent of the parties to the deed. The Department of Law advises that commercial arrangements, such as this leaseback, often include confidentiality clauses. Parties to this arrangement include the Land Settlement Aboriginal Corporation, the Central Land Council, the traditional owners, and myself on behalf of the Northern Territory government.
