Department of the Legislative Assembly, Northern Territory Government

Mr BAILEY - 1994-10-12

Following from the minister's answer to the Question put by the member for Nhulunbuy, has he now realised that the government does not own the bulk of the land at Gunn Point even though he wrote to the Litchfield Shire Council informing it that the government did own it, even though it is in the Northern Territory Government Gazette, and even though it is on the board at the Planning Authority and in notices in the newspapers? Now that he has realised that the activity he is carrying out in trying to get it excluded from the Shire of Litchfield is actually on behalf of a totally independent group, will he withdraw his application to the Planning Authority and allow the land to return to the Litchfield Shire Council ...

Mr Hatton: Do you want a short answer to that?

Mr BAILEY: ... because it is not the government's land?

ANSWER

Mr Speaker, it really is a little late for the member for Wanguri to try to jump on this band wagon. I inform the honourable member...

Mr Bailey: A bit late? You put it in the gazette and you do not even know whether you own it or not.

A member: Be quiet, Johnny, you have missed the answer.
