Mr BAILEY - 1995-10-12
I am sure the minister, who is responsible for the Procurement Review Board, is aware that, in 1992, the Department of Education spent $48 980 on wheelchairs. In 1992, would it have been correct procedure for a certificate of exemption to be issued for a purchase that did

not go to tender, and should that have been forwarded to the then Supply and Tender Board? Does the minister's department have any record of a certificate of exemption for this purchase from that time? Did a certificate of exemption require the accountable officer to document the reason for using a certificate of exemption rather than going to tender? Should this purchase of wheelchairs have been notified in the NT Government Gazette and, if so, was it?
ANSWER
Mr Speaker, I am not familiar with exactly what the process was in 1992, although I am familiar with the current process. I will have to take the question on notice and see what the story is.
Mr Bailey: Will you get back?
Mr POOLE: I will inform the House later.
