Did the minister or his staff attend meetings with Australia Television's news head, Mr Prakash Mirchandani, or any other ATV representatives before the Territory's general election? If so, was the matter of possible Territory government sponsorship for ATV discussed at any of those meetings?
ANSWER
Mr Speaker, in fact, I have met with Mr Prakash Mirchandani on a number of occasions if that is the person to whom the member is referring.
Mrs Hickey: Yes. Before the election?
Mr STONE: In the context of our determining whether the Northern Territory government would reassess its position, subsequently I received some communications from him, but I still do not have a formal proposal to put to my colleagues in the form of a Cabinet submission although I intend to do that.

Mr STONE: What does that kind of smart-alec remark have to do with the question just asked?
