Mr HATTON (Sport and Recreation): Mr Speaker, I wish to respond to the member for Arafura's question, put during the appropriation debate on 18 September 1996, on what programs will be run by the Institute of Sport in 1996-97. I advised the honourable member that a total of $1.398m will be provided to run the institute in 1996-97. I went on to provide details of the costing of each sub-program within the 3 major institute programs. On checking the additions of these sub-programs, it was found that, when totalled, the cost exceeded the $1.398m by $78 000. This anomaly arose because these programs were fully costed and included sponsorship funding which the institute expects to raise during the 1996- 97 financial year. The cost, therefore, for all programs to be run by the institute will amount to $1.476m which reflects the total cost of the programs, not only the government-funded portion of $1.398m.
