Mr COULTER: A point of order, Mr Speaker! A member has the right to make a personal explanation when he believes that he has been wronged or defamed. We do not need an explanation of the way the ABC operates. We want to know why the Leader of the Opposition believes that he has been personally aggrieved by a comment made by the minister.

Mr SPEAKER: The Deputy Chief Minister is quite right. The Leader of the Opposition has the opportunity to explain to the House why he believes that he has been maligned in the answer by the Minister for Industries and Development.

Mr EDE: The first point that needs to be made is that there are other people within ATV whose job it is to conduct these kinds of negotiations. Prakash Mirchandani holds a very sensitive position in that he is the head of the news services for both ATV and Territory ABC. I did not make an allegation against Prakash Mirchandani. I said that there is the potential for a conflict of interest. The minister has placed Prakash Mirchandani in a position where a conflict of interest may arise with ...
