Department of the Legislative Assembly, Northern Territory Government

Mr EDE - 1995-11-30

I am sure the Chief Minister is as aware of the rest of us that this is the last sitting day before the Christmas break, and therefore, in all probability, the last day that we will be broadcasting to the good people who listen to Question Time broadcast by 8TOP-FM. Is the Chief Minister willing to join with me in taking this opportunity to wish Territorians listening to this broadcast, indeed all Territorians, a safe holiday, a merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year?

Members: Hear, hear!

ANSWER

Indeed I am, Mr Speaker. In fact, I will go further and wish the opposition a happy Christmas ...

Mr Ede: Oh, I included opposition members as Territorians.

Mr STONE: I am not quite sure that you lot are, you see, so I thought we had better ensure that we broadened the category. Certainly, I join ...

Mr Bailey: And your dog too, Shane.

Mr STONE: And my dog? May I have a hanky or a sock of yours - I have the photographs - because my dog is looking forward to meeting you again. He wants to be sure he gets the right one.

Members interjecting.

Mr SPEAKER: Order!

Mr STONE: On a more serious note, certainly I wish all Territorians a safe, holy and prosperous Christmas. It is a very bad time on the roads around Australia and I urge Territorians to play it safe. May 1996 be as prosperous and as happy as 1995 has been.
