Department of the Legislative Assembly, Northern Territory Government

Mr EDE - 1995-03-01

The Chief Minister confirmed yesterday that the architect of the filthy tactic known as push-polling, Mr Mark Textor, had worked for him some years ago. I ask the Chief Minister to confirm that Mr Textor was in fact in Darwin during last year's election campaign. I ask him to explain what role Mr Textor played in the CLP's campaign last year.

ANSWER

Mr Speaker, despite the inference in the Leader of the Opposition's question, I did not confirm yesterday that Mr Textor was an architect of anything. I confirmed only that he had worked for me for a period of time some years ago and that he had also worked for my predecessor. In respect of questions about persons who were not on my payroll and had no relation to my parliamentary duties, I suggest he direct his questions elsewhere.
