Department of the Legislative Assembly, Northern Territory Government

Mr EDE - 1994-06-30

For the moment, we will leave aside the actual price of State Square.

Mr Manzie: You asked me about it, right?

Mr EDE: I am asking a question and, for the purposes of this question, we are leaving aside the issue of the cost. This question has 2 points. Does the minister concede that it is legitimate for the opposition to ask for the actual date of final completion/handover given that, the longer that that date blows out, the higher the cost is to Territorians? If he concedes that that is a legitimate question, is his failure to answer simply that he does not know or is it an arrogant refusal to provide the information that Territorians want to know?

ANSWER

Mr Speaker, I have no problem agreeing that it is a legitimate question. The only problem is that the opposition does not appear to accept the legitimacy of my answer.

Mr Ede: That you will not tell us?

Mr MANZIE: I have made the circumstances very clear and I do not think that I need to add any more.
