Department of the Legislative Assembly, Northern Territory Government

Mr STIRLING - 1999-08-11

When asked about the member for Port Darwin becoming the Liberal Party’s president, the Chief Minister said: ‘I am not happy with the position but the facts are that it is out of my control’. Now, in an unconvincing attempt to save face, the Chief Minister is being told to say that he is happy. But the former Chief Minister is running amok. Chief Minister, when will you get the Liberal Party president out of your party room?

ANSWER

Mr Speaker, as I said, I did take charge of the situation. The issue has been resolved and we look forward to a positive relationship working to the benefit of the Northern Territory.
