Department of the Legislative Assembly, Northern Territory Government

Mr STIRLING - 1999-08-17

The former Anti-Discrimination Commissioner’s report identified the need for an Aboriginal interpreter service in the Northern Territory, as has been pointed out to the Territory Liberal Party for more than 20 years. Countless reports and recommendations have all supported the service being established. Why has the Territory Liberal Party ignored this issue for 20 years? Why are you continuing to try to pass the buck on to anyone else but yourselves?

ANSWER

Mr Speaker, there is no party in the Northern Territory called the Territory Liberal Party.
