1. MEETING:
The Assembly met at 10.00 h. The Speaker, the Honourable T R McCarthy, took the Chair.

2. PRAYERS.

3. VISITORS:
      The Speaker advised Honourable Members of the presence in the public galleries of NT Open Education Centre students from remote areas accompanied by their teachers, Ms Lai Fong and Ms Karen Jackson.
      On behalf of all Members the Speaker (Mr McCarthy) extended a warm welcome to the visitors.

6. A GUIDE TO TOURISM BUSINESS – PAPER TABLED – PAPER AND STATEMENT NOTED:
      The Minister for Industries and Business (Mr Baldwin) laid on the Table the following document A Guide to Tourism Business by Department of Industries and Business (Paper 2034).
      Mr Baldwin made a statement relating thereto.
      Mr Baldwin moved – That the Assembly take note of the paper and statement.

7. INNOVATIVE ECONOMY – MINISTERIAL STATEMENT – STATEMENT NOTED:
      The Treasurer (Mr Reed) made statement relating to the development of an Innovative Northern Territory Economy (Paper 2035).

8. TERRITORY PARKS AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION AMENDMENT BILL 2000 (Serial 260):
      The Minister for Parks and Wildlife (Mr Reed), pursuant to notice, presented a Bill for an Act to amend the Territory Parks and Wildlife Conservation Amendment Act.
      Bill read a first time.
      Mr Reed moved – That the Bill be now read a second time.
      Debate ensued.
      On the motion of the Member for Wanguri (Mr Henderson) debate was adjourned.
9. SURVEILLANCE DEVICES BILL 2000 (Serial 254):
      The Treasurer (Mr Reed), on behalf of and at the request of the Attorney-General (Mr Burke), pursuant to notice, presented a Bill for an Act to regulate the use of surveillance devices to record, monitor or listen to persons’ private conversations, to record, monitor or observe persons’ private activities, to record or monitor information put on to or retrieved from computers or to determine or monitor the location of persons objects, and for related purposes.
      Bill read a first time.
      Mr Reed moved – That the Bill be now read a second time.
      Debate ensued.
      On the motion of the Member for Arafura (Mr Rioli) debate was adjourned.
10.ADJOURNMENT:
