1. MEETING:
The Assembly met at 10.00 h. The Speaker, the Honourable T. R. McCarthy, took the Chair.

3. PETITIONS:

      The Member for Fannie Bay (Ms Martin) presented a petition from 291 petitioners praying that, in accord with promises and pledges made by local elected Members of Parliament to assist the Palmerston R. S. L, sufficient financial and resource support be supplied to establish a club house with licensed premises for the provision of alcohol and gaming facilities for members of the club. (Paper 2587)

      The Member for Stuart (Dr Toyne) presented a petition from 561 petitioners praying that support be given to developing a birth centre at Royal Darwin Hospital. (Paper 2588)

      The Member for Blain (Mr Mills), by leave, presented a petition, not conforming with Standing Orders, from 47 petitioners relating to Family Breakdown Services. (Paper 2589)

5. FOUNDATIONS FOR OUR FUTURE – FOUNDATION ONE, LIFESTYLE AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT - MINISTERIAL STATEMENT – STATEMENT NOTED:
      The Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries (Mr Palmer) made a statement relating to the Foundations for Our Future – Foundation One, Lifestyle and Social Development of Territorians in all its aspects. (Paper 2590)
      Mr Palmer moved – That the Assembly take note of the Statement.

9. MINING MANAGEMENT (CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS) BILL 2001 (Serial 340):
      The Minister for Local Government (Dr Lim), at the request of and on behalf of the Minister for Resource Development (Mr Manzie), pursuant to notice, presented a Bill for an Act to amend various legislative provisions consequential on the enactment of the Mining Management Act.

          '26A. Interpretation

          'Section 116A of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the definition of "corresponding law" in subsection (1) the following:

                  " 'information' includes a document;".'.
