1. MEETING:
The Assembly met at 10.00 a.m., pursuant to adjournment. The Speaker, the Honourable N.M. Dondas, took the Chair.

3. QUESTIONS:
Questions were asked of Ministers.

4. PERSONAL EXPLANATION:
The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Ede), by leave, made a personal explanation, pursuant to Standing Order 57, regarding the
tabling on Wednesday 18 November 1992, of graphs based on Budget Paper No. 3 by the Treasurer (Mr Coulter) and his
subsequent reply made in answer to a question during Question Time this day.

5. PERSONAL EXPLANATION:
The Member for Greatorex (Mr Collins), by leave, made a personal explanation, pursuant to Standing Order 57, regarding comments he made about Mr Gerald Gold.

6. TOURISM DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE - MINISTERIAL STATEMENT - MOTION TO NOTE STATEMENT:
The Minister for Tourism (Mr Vale) made a statement relating to Tourism developments and infrastructure following implementation of recommendations contained in the Kennedy Report.
Paper tabled: Mr Vale laid on the Table the following Paper -

~ Advertisement, "Our 'Big Territory Deals' are as spectacular as the Red Centre",
Ansett Australia, Herald-Sun, dated 17 November 1992.

Mr Vale moved - That the Assembly take note of the Statement.
Debate ensued.
Paper tabled: The Member for Millner (Mr Parish), by leave, laid on the Table the following Paper -

~ Report on the Impact of the Indirect Tax Aspects of the Federal Coalition's
"Fightback!" Package upon the Hotel and Motel Industries by Ernst & Young.

Suspension of sitting: The sitting was suspended between 12.08 p.m. and 2.00 p.m.

Debate resumed.
On the motion of the Leader of Government Business (Mr Setter) debate was adjourned.

7. BUSINESS POSTPONED:
The Leader of Government Business (Mr Setter) moved - That Government Business, Order of the Day No. 1 relating to the Classification of Publications and Films Amendment Bill 1992 (Serial 169) be postponed until the next sitting day.

8. JURISDICTION OF COURTS (CROSS-VESTING) AMENDMENT BILL 1992 (Serial 177):
The order of the day having been read for the resumption of the debate on the question -
That the Bill be now read a second time -
Debate resumed.
Question - put and passed.
Bill read a second time.
Leave granted for a motion for the third reading of the Bill to be moved forthwith.
On the motion of the Attorney-General (Mr Manzie) the Bill was read a third time and passed to be a proposed law.

9. FINANCIAL TRANSACTION REPORTS BILL 1992 (Serial 178):
The order of the day having been read for the resumption of the debate on the question -
That the Bill be now read a second time -
Debate resumed.

Leave granted for a motion for the third reading of the Bill to be moved forthwith.
On the motion of the Attorney-General (Mr Manzie) the Bill was read a third time and passed to be a proposed law.

10. TRUSTEE AMENDMENT BILL 1992 (Serial 182):
The order of the day having been read for the resumption of the debate on the question -
That the Bill be now read a second time -
Debate resumed.
Question - put and passed.
Bill read a second time.
The Assembly, according to Order, resolved itself into Committee of the Whole for the consideration of the Bill.

On the motion of the Attorney-General (Mr Manzie) the following amendment was agreed to -

Omit from Clause 2 "Australian and Overseas Telecommunications
Corporation" and insert in its stead "Australian and Overseas
Telecommunications Corporation Limited".

On the motion of Mr Manzie the following further amendment was agreed to -

Omit from Clause 2 "30 June 1993" and insert in its stead "31 December 1993".

The Speaker (Mr Dondas) resumed the Chair; the Deputy Chairman (Mr Collins)
reported accordingly; and the report was adopted.
On the motion of Mr Manzie the Bill was read a third time and passed to be a proposed law.

11. JURIES AMENDMENT BILL 1992 (Serial 185):
The order of the day having been read for the resumption of the debate on the question -
That the Bill be now read a second time -

The Assembly, according to Order, resolved itself into Committee of the Whole for the consideration of the Bill.

On the motion of the Attorney-General (Mr Manzie) the following amendment was agreed to -

Insert in Clause 7 before paragraph (a) the following:

"(aa) by omitting 'the clerk of a practising legal practitioner' and substituting
'the articled clerk of a practising legal practitioner';".

Bill, as amended, agreed to.
Bill to be reported with an amendment.

The Deputy Speaker (Mr Poole) resumed the Chair; the Deputy Chairman
On the motion of Mr Manzie the Bill was read a third time and passed to be a proposed law.

12. ADJOURNMENT:
The Leader of Government Business (Mr Setter) moved - That the Assembly do now adjourn.
