- Trainee and Apprenticeship Numbers: The Minister for Employment, Education and Training (Mr Stirling) reported on the growth of apprenticeship and traineeships.
Mr Mills responded thereto.
Mrs Braham responded thereto.
Mr Stirling responded accordingly.
Dental Services: The Minister for Health (Dr Toyne) reported on dental health services and expanding new programs for children's dental services and school dental clinics.
Dr Lim responded thereto.
Dr Toyne responded accordingly.
Rapid Creek Conservation Corridor: The Minister for Planning and Lands (Dr Burns) reported on the finalisation of the Rapid Creek Conservation Corridor.
Ms Carney responded thereto.

4. JURY SERVICE PAYMENTS - MOTION AS AMENDED, AGREED TO:
- The Member for Nelson (Mr Wood) moved - That, there be a review of the impact of jury service pay entitlements on Territory private employers and employees to ensure they are not disadvantaged financially.
Debate ensued.
The Minister for Justice and Attorney-General (Dr Toyne) moved the following amendment -
Omit all words after "on" and insert the words "jurors who serve on lengthy trials to ensure they are not financially disadvantaged".

- The Member for Braitling (Mrs Braham), pursuant to notice, presented a Bill for an Act to amend the Residential Tenancies Act.

- The Member for Blain (Mr Mills), pursuant to notice, moved - That this Assembly call on the Chief Minister to explain to Territorians why her government’s election announcement of 2,500 new apprentices cannot be achieved and why the completion rate of new apprentices will be only 48%.

Suspension of Sittings: The sittings of the Assembly was suspended between 11.57pm and 2pm.

Visitors: The Speaker advised Members of the presence in the public galleries of Senior Citizens from the Electorates of Casuarina, Johnston, Brennan and Drysdale, and visitors from Western Australia and the Netherlands. In addition the Speaker acknowledged the presence of a regular attendee of parliamentary sittings, Mrs Love.
On behalf of all Members the Speaker extended a warm welcome to the visitors.

10. AUDITOR-GENERAL FOR THE NORTHERN TERRITORY AUGUST 2005 REPORT TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY - PAPER TABLED - REPORT PRINTED - MOTION TO NOTE REPORT:
- The Speaker laid on the Table the Report of the Auditor-General for the Northern Territory, August 2005 Report to the Legislative Assembly (Paper 176).
The Acting Chief Minister (Mr Stirling) moved - That the Report be printed.
Question - put and passed.
Mr Stirling moved - That the Assembly take note of the Report.
Debate ensued.
Leave granted to Mr Stirling to continue his remarks at a later hour.
The Leader of the Opposition (Ms Carney), by leave, spoke to the motion noting the Report and leave was denied to continue her remarks at a later hour.
Leave denied: The Leader of Government Business (Mr Henderson) sought leave to speak to the Auditor-General's Report. A dissentient voice being raised, leave was denied.
Suspension of Standing Orders: The Leader of Government Business (Mr Henderson) thereupon moved - That so much of Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent him speaking to the motion to take note of the Report.

- The Member for Blain (Mr Mills), pursuant to notice, moved - That this Assembly calls on the Chief Minister to explain to Parliament why the Government has not formulated a plan or strategy to secure a long term alternative energy supply for the generation of electricity for the NT.

14. PERSONAL EXPLANATION BY LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION:
- The Leader of the Opposition (Ms Carney), pursuant to Standing Order 57, made a personal explanation relating to her statements made earlier this day during Questions asserting support by Senator Scullion of a motion condemning a nuclear waste dump facility for the Northern Territory.
- Leave to move motion: The Leader of Government Business (Mr Henderson) sought leave to suspend Standing Orders to allow him to move a motion regarding comments made earlier this day asserting support of Senator Scullion to a motion condemning nuclear waste dump in the Northern Territory.
Leave denied: A dissentient voice being raised - leave denied.
Suspension of Standing Orders: The Leader of Government Business (Mr Henderson) moved - That so much of Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent him moving a motion in the terms above.

The Leader of Government Business (Mr Henderson) thereupon moved -
That this Assembly -
(1) Notes with approval that the Australian Senate today voted to endorse a motion moved by Senator Trish Crossin which condemns the Commonwealth's proposal to impose a nuclear waste dump facility on the Northern Territory;
(2) Notes that Senator Nigel Scullion was not present in the Senate Chamber when the motion was considered; and
(3) Calls upon the Leader of the Opposition to make a personal explanation regarding the misleading assertion she made earlier today in the Legislative Assembly that Senator Nigel Scullion supported the passing of this important motion by the Australian Senate.
