The Assembly met at 10am. The Speaker, the Honourable Kezia Purick took the Chair.

The Assembly met at 10am. The Speaker, the Honourable Kezia Purick took the Chair.
- The Speaker advised Honourable Members of the presence in the gallery of:
1. two year 6 classes from Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, and
2. students from Dripstone Middle School Henbury Outreach Centre.
On behalf of all Members the Speaker extended a warm welcome to the visitors.
- The Speaker made a statement regarding the conduct of Members in the Chamber and the application of Standing Orders relating to the use of language and conduct of debates.

7. REORDER OF BUSINESS – MOTION AGREED TO
- Mr Elferink (Leader of Government Business) moved – pursuant to Standing Order 89 the re-ordering of the Routine of Business so that at the conclusion of consideration of Government Business Orders of the Day Number One, the Assembly immediately considers Ministerial Statements and at the conclusion of Ministerial Statements the Assembly resumes consideration of Government Business.

- Mr Giles (Chief Minister) made a statement regarding October Business Month in 2014.
Mr Giles moved – That the Assembly take note of the Statement.
Debate ensued.
Quorum: Ms Lawrie (Member for Karama) drew the attention of the Speaker to the state of the Assembly.
A quorum having been obtained, debate continued.

Suspension of sittings: The sitting of the Assembly was suspended between 12 noon and 2.00pm.

- The following notices were given:
1. Mr Elferink (Attorney-General) will present on the next sitting day a bill entitled Information Amendment Bill 2014 (Serial 101).
2. Ms Fyles (Member for Nightcliff) will move on the next General Business day - that this Legislative Assembly condemns the CLP Government for failing to properly fund and resource Territory schools by:
- - Slashing $125 million from the education budgets;
- Forcing global school budgets onto schools which is cost shifting resource burdens onto our schools; and
The Legislative Assembly calls on the government to reinstate teachers, teacher assistants and properly resource our Territory schools.
3. Mr Wood (Member for Nelson) will move on the next General Business day – That the RL1 and RL2 zones under the NT Planning Scheme be added to Schedule 2 of the Planning Act Regulations thereby allowing residents living in these areas the right to appeal against planning applications.
- Mr Giles (Chief Minister) made a statement and laid on the Table – Treasurer’s Annual Financial Report, 2013/2014 (Paper 1073).
Mr Giles moved – That the Assembly take note of the report.

- The Speaker made a statement regarding the Department of the Legislative Assembly's annual survey of Members' satisfaction with services.
