- 1. MEETING:
- The Assembly met at 10.10am. The Speaker, the Honourable J. L. Aagaard, took the Chair.

3. PAIRS:
- The Speaker laid on the Table Pairs for today:
The Member for Karama (Ms Lawrie) and the Member for Sanderson (Mr Styles) (Paper 574) – Duration, all of 22 October 2009 sitting day.
4. STATEMENT BY SPEAKER:
- The Speaker advised Members of the death of Wamud Namok AO on 16 October 2009 and the presence in the public gallery of his wife – Mary; sons Junio, Frederick and Keith and daughters Lois, Hagar, Donna, June and Rhonda, grandchildren from their outstation Kabulwarnamyo.
5. CONDOLENCE - WAMUD NAMOK AO:
- The Chief Minister (Mr Henderson), by leave, moved - That this Assembly -
- (a) express its deep regret at the death of Wamud Namok AO, Aboriginal leader, conservationist, scientist and artist; and
- (b) tender its profound sympathy to his family and friends.
- The Chief Minister (Mr Henderson) thereupon addressed the Assembly.
The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Mills) addressed the Assembly.

As a mark of respect members stood in their places for one minute in silence.

7. PETITIONS:
- The Member for Araluen (Ms Carney) presented Petition No. 26 from 797 petitioners requesting that Araluen Galleries be returned to a place with dedicated community involvement (Paper 575).

The Member for Sanderson (Mr Styles) presented Petition No. 27 from 177 petitioners requesting transitional housing be provided on the ConocoPhillips Workcamp site near Palmerston (Paper 576).

8. ASSEMBLY MEMBERS AND STATUTORY OFFICERS (REMUNERATION AND OTHER ENTITLEMENTS) AMENDMENT BILL (No. 2) 2009 (Serial 67):
