The Assembly met at 10am. The Speaker, the Honourable Kezia Purick took the Chair.

- The Speaker advised Honourable Members of the presence in the gallery of Year 11 Legal Studies students from Darwin High School.
On behalf of all Members the Speaker extended a warm welcome to the visitors.
- Mrs Price (Minister for Local Government and Community Services), pursuant to notice, presented a Bill for an Act to amend the Local Government Act and Local Government (Electoral) Regulations, and for related purposes.
Bill read a first time.
Mrs Price moved - That the Bill be now read a second time.
- Debate ensued.
Paper Tabled: Mrs Price laid upon the Table the Explanatory Statement (Paper 1250).
On the motion of Mr McCarthy (Member for Barkly) debate was adjourned.

- Mr Elferink (Leader of Government Business), moved – That so much of Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent Ministerial Statements being given.

- Mr Chandler (Minister for Education) made a statement regarding reforms to Education in the Northern Territory.
Mr Chandler moved – That the Assembly take note of the Statement.
