        The Assembly met at 10am. The Speaker, the Honourable J. L. Aagaard, took the Chair.

    3. RIGHTS OF TERRITORIANS – MOTION AGREED TO:
        The Chief Minister (Mr Henderson), pursuant to notice, moved - That the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly congratulate both houses of the Federal Parliament in Canberra for the successful passage of legislation which increases the rights of Territorians.
        Debate ensued.
        Gag: The Member for Greatorex (Mr Conlan) moved – That the Member for Wanguri (Mr Henderson) be no longer heard.

    9. GEARING UP FOR MAJOR PROJECTS – MINISTERIAL STATEMENT – MOTION TO NOTE STATEMENT:
        The Chief Minister (Mr Henderson) made a statement relating to the work the government is doing to expand the evolve of the Territory to meet demands of coming Major Projects.
        Mr Henderson moved – That the Assembly take note of the Statement.
        Debate ensued.
        Quorum: The Member for Katherine (Mr Westra van Holthe) drew the attention of the Speaker to the state of the Assembly, pursuant to Standing Order 36.

        Extension of time: On the motion of the Member for Drysdale (Mr Bohlin) the Member for Nelson (Mr Wood) was granted an extension of time, pursuant to Standing Order 77.

        Extension of time: On the motion of the Member for Johnston (Dr Burns) the Member for Casuarina (Mr Vatskalis) was granted an extension of time, pursuant to Standing Order 77.

    10. MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE – ALICE SPRINGS, TOURISM:
        The Speaker advised the Assembly the Member for Katherine (Mr Westra van Holthe) had proposed the following definite Matter of Public Importance for discussion this day:
            The current state of tourism and related businesses in and around Alice springs.

        The proposed discussion having received the necessary support –
        Discussion ensued.
        Discussion concluded.
