1. MEETING
The Assembly met at 10.00 am. The Speaker, the Honourable Kezia Purick took the Chair.

    3. LEAVE OF ABSENCE – AGREED TO
    Mr Gunner (Member for Fannie Bay) moved – That a leave of absence for today be granted to the Ms Fyles (Member for Nightcliff) on account of personal business.
        Motion agreed to.
    4. SUSPENSION OF STANDING ORDERS – MOTION AGREED TO
        Mr Elferink (Leader of Government Business) moved – That so much of Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent the Assembly considering Ministerial Statements at 3.00 pm.

    5. VISITORS
        The Speaker advised Honourable Members of the presence in the gallery of two Year 4 classes from Larrakeyah Primary School.

    6. Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Legislation Amendment Bill 2015 (Serial 117)
        Mr Styles (Minister for Employment and Training), pursuant to notice, presented a Bill for an Act to amend the Workers Rehabilitation Act and the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Regulations, and for related purposes.

        Bill read a first time.

        Mr Styles moved - That the Bill be now read a second time.

        Debate ensued.

    10. MINISTERIAL STATEMENT – Cyclone Response, Recovery and Redevelopment – STATEMENT NOTED
        Mr Giles (Chief Minister) made a statement regarding Ex-Tropical Cyclone Lam and the recovery efforts that are continuing throughout North East Arnhem Land.

        Mr Giles moved – That the Assembly take note of the Statement.

        Extension of Time: On the motion of Mr McCarthy (Member for Barkly), Ms Walker (Member for Nhulunbuy) was granted an extension of time.

    11. MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE – INCREASE IN POKER MACHINE NUMBERS
        The Deputy Speaker (Mr Conlan) advised the Assembly that Mr Wood (Member for Nelson) had proposed a definite Matter of Public Importance – That the Minister for Racing and Gaming explain why the Government lifted the individual venue caps on poker machines from 10 to 20 in hotels and the number in clubs from 45 to 55.

        That the Minister for Racing and Gaming explain why the Government didn't announce the changes to poker machine numbers and the increase in the Gaming Machine Levy, in Parliament but instead waited until Parliament had closed down for the year?

        That the Minister say who the Government discussed the changes with before these changes were announced, and did the Government do any study of the potential impacts these changes might bring e.g. a social impact study?

        Having received the necessary support - discussion ensued.

Remuneration Tribunal Determination, Travel Report, Member for Fannie Bay, Mr Michael Gunner, travelled to Canberra, meeting with Federal Colleagues to discuss issues relevant to the Northern Territory, from 2nd- 4th December 2014, pursuant to clause 4.12, dated 24 February 2015 (Paper 1266). .
