1. MEETING:
      The Assembly met at 10am, pursuant to resolution of the Assembly, dated Thursday 8 May 2008. The Speaker, the Honourable J. L. Aagaard, took the Chair.

3. STATEMENT BY SPEAKER:
      The Speaker advised Members that the part of the public gallery to her right had been allocated to media representatives during the June sittings of parliament.

4. MESSAGE FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR No. 28:
      The Speaker advised Members of receipt of the following Message from His Honour the Administrator:

6. MINISTERIAL REPORTS:
      INPEX LNG Gas Project, Paris: The Chief Minister (Mr Henderson) reported on a government delegation to Paris to meet with senior executives of Total E&PAustralia a partner of INPEX to promote the LNG Gas Project with onshore development at Balydin Point in the Territory.
      Mr Mills responded.
      Mr Henderson replied.

      Research, Business and Innovative Awards: The Minister for Business and Economic Development (Mr Vatskalis) reported on the conduct of the Northern Territory Research, Business and Innovative Awards night on 29 May 2008.
      Ms Carney responded.
      Mr Wood responded.
      Mr Vatskalis replied.

      Live Cattle Exports, Vietnam: The Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries (Mr Natt) reported on a Territory delegation visit to Vietnam to promote our live cattle export trade market.

      Mr Natt replied.

        Mr Mills: To move - That the Assembly requests :

                1. The Commonwealth Government acknowledges the widespread and bipartisan opposition to its plan to locate a nuclear waste dump in the Northern Territory;

                2. That the Commonwealth Government honour its election promise to full consultation before approving a nuclear waste dump in the Northern Territory;

                3. The Commonwealth Government allow Territorians to have a say on the nuclear waste dump planned for the Northern Territory. A binding referendum should be a mandatory precondition for introducing new nuclear facilities to any region in Australia;

                4. Northern Territory members of the Commonwealth Parliament stand up for the Territory and support a referendum;

                5. The Chief Minister commits to not calling a general election prior to the decision being made by the Federal Minister so that Territorians can use that election to send their message to Canberra (subject to that decision being made prior to the completion of the full term of Government);

                6. The Speaker forward the terms of this motion and associated debate to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth Parliament.
        Dr Burns: To present the Criminal Code Amendment (Hit and Run and Other Endangerment Offences) Bill 2008 (Serial 155).

        Mr Knight: To present the Jabiru Town Development Amendment Bill 2008 (Serial 152).
        Mr Knight: To move - That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent a Bill entitled Jabiru Town Development Amendment Bill 2008 (Serial 152) passing through all stages at this sittings.
        Statement by Speaker: The Speaker advised Members of the Regional Primary School Art Competition display in the Reception Hall and urged Members to vote for their winning entry.
