- The Member for Greatorex (Dr Lim) presented petition No. 46 from 404 petitioners praying the handover of 48 Territory owned parks be rescinded (Paper 668).

The Member for Goyder (Mr Warren) presented petition No. 47 from 175 petitioners requesting that the proposed rezoning of sections of 3230, 3231, 3055 and 3056 at Dundee Beach from community purposes is not approved (Paper 669).

- Australian Institute of Management Awards: The Chief Minister (Ms Martin) reported on the conduct of the 16th Australian Institute of Management Awards 2006 at Skycity Casino.

Insurance Industry, Public Liability Premiums: The Treasurer (Mr Stirling) reported on the fall of public liability insurance premiums to Territory businesses.

Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority: The Minister for Local Government (Mr McAdam) reported on the operation of the Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority.

- The Member for Blain (Mr Mills) responded to accusations of plagiarism made by the Minister for Education (Mr Henderson) during debate yesterday relating to proposed CLP policy of "Traffic Light" ideas for identifying food groups sold by school canteens.

- The Minister for Justice and Attorney-General (Mr Stirling), pursuant to notice, presented a Bill for an Act about the registration of business names.

- The Minister for Natural Resources, Environment and Heritage (Ms Scrymgour) made a statement relating to the a proposed National Radioactive Waste Facility in the Northern Territory.
Ms Scrymgour, by leave, moved - That the Assembly take note of the statement,

1. The Assembly demand the Commonwealth Government:
- (a) honour its election promise to not locate a nuclear waste dump in the Northern Territory;
(b) confirm that the waste which Australia will receive from France includes waste generated in other countries and includes plutonium;
(c) cease all action to establish a nuclear waste dump in the Northern Territory while they are considering our nuclear future;
(d) commit to a clear, open and transparent scientific process for determining the best storage or disposal solution for nuclear waste; and
(e) respect the sovereignty of the Northern Territory and this parliament;
2. The Assembly condemns the Commonwealth government for misleading the people of Australia about the type and source of nuclear waste to be returned to Australia.
