    The Assembly met at 10am. The Speaker, the Honourable Kezia. Purick, took the Chair.

    3. VISITORS:
        The Speaker advised Members of the presence in the public gallery of Wulagi Primary School Year 5/6 students accompanied by Ms Jodie Houghton.
        On behalf of all Members the Speaker extended a warm welcome to the visitors.

        The Speaker advised Members of an interruption to the electronic access to the Daily Hansard transcript.

        The Leader of Government Business (Mr Elferink), by leave, moved - That, notwithstanding anything contained in Standing Orders, the number of Members to serve on the Public Accounts Committee be increased to six.

        The Member for Fannie Bay (Mr Gunner), by leave, advised the Assembly that with the concurrence of all Members the item of business standing in the name of Mr Wood, General Business, Notices relating to commercial fishing be moved to item Number 4.

        The Chief Minister (Mr Mills) made a statement relating to the current economic and business position of the Territory.

        The Member for Fong Lim (Mr Tollner) presented Petition No. 1 from 3630 petitioners requesting that O’Ferrals Rock be declared as a conservation zone (Paper 33).

    12. NOTICES:
        Mr Giles: To present the Rail Safety (National Uniform Legislation)
                Bill 2012 (Serial 5).

        Mr Wood: To move –

                1. That, the government review the future development of the One Mile Dam, Knuckey Lagoon and 15 mile communities; and

                2. That, the review include –
                    (a) any future development plans;

                    (b) existing and future land leasing arrangements;

                    (c) home ownership; and

                    (d) governance including local government; and

                3. That, the review should include views of residents, aboriginal development foundation, relevant housing bodies and all other relevant government agencies and non-government organisations.

        Mr Conlan: To present the Tourism NT Bill 2012 (Serial 8).

        Mr Conlan: To move - That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent the Tourism NT Bill 2012 (Serial 8) passing through all stages on Thursday 1 November 2012.

        The Leader of the Opposition (Ms Lawrie), pursuant to notice, moved – That this House condemns the Government for removing the Banned Drinkers Register with no alternative in place and calls for the Government to outline their plans for return of the rivers of grog to our bush communities.
