1. MEETING:
The Assembly met at 10am. The Acting Speaker, Mr L. Kiely, took the Chair.

2. PRAYERS.

3. VISITORS:
      The Acting Speaker advised Members of the presence in the public galleries of Year 8 Kormilda College Students from various remote Aboriginal communities accompanied by Ms Jacinta Mooney and extended a warm welcome to the visitors.

4. PETITIONS:
      The Member for Greatorex (Dr Lim) presented petition No. 31 from 104 petitioners requesting the Northern Territory Place Names Committee retain the name of the Golf Course Estate for the suburb adjacent to and surrounding the Alice Springs Golf Course (Paper 495).

      The Member for Greatorex (Dr Lim) presented petition No. 30 from 72 petitioners requesting that the salaries section of DCIS in Alice Springs be retained (Paper 494).

      The Member for Greatorex (Dr Lim) presented petition No. 28 from 253 petitioners requesting the decision to handover the 11 Central Australian National Parks be rescinded (Paper 492).

      The Member for Greatorex (Dr Lim) presented petition No. 29 from 1945 petitioners requesting the decision to handover the 48 Territory owned parks be rescinded (Paper 493).

5. MINISTERIAL REPORTS:
      Top End Secret Road Show - Mining Profile: The Minister for Mines (Mr Vatskalis) reported on the strategy to attract investment to the Territory by profiling the Northern Territory Mining Potential at an AMEC seminar conducted in Perth last week, with industry representatives, stakeholders, investors and business entrepreneurs.

      North Australian Business "Partner Up" Workshop: The Minister for Business and Economic Development (Mr Henderson) reported on the conduct of the North Australian Business Workshop promoting Territory business and economic development cluster partnership opportunities.
