    1. MEETING:
        The Assembly met at 10am, pursuant to resolution of the Assembly, dated Thursday 20 June 2002. The Speaker, the Honourable L. M. Braham, took the Chair.

    2. PRAYERS.

    3. VISITORS:
        The Speaker advised Members of the presence in the Speaker’s Gallery of Mrs Thea Toyne and the Member for Stuart’s mother Mrs Claire Toyne.
    4. PETITIONS:
        Response to petitions: The Clerk, pursuant to Standing Order 100, advised that responses to Petitions Nos. 6, 8 and 14 relating to respectively, taxi leases, Bodyzone Health and Fitness Centre and HIH insurance collapse and twin eight storey towers development on Lot 6274 Bayview Haven. (Paper 434)
        The text of the responses will be included in the Parliamentary Record.
    5. MINISTERIAL REPORTS:
        Public Liability and Medical Insurance: The Chief Minister (Ms Martin) made a report on the current public liability and medical insurance in the Territory.
        Mr Burke responded thereto.
        Mr Wood responded thereto.
        Ms Martin responded accordingly.

        AustralAsia Railway Construction Progress: The Minister for AustralAsia Railway (Mr Henderson) made a report on the construction progress of the AustralAsia Railway project.
        Mr Burke responded thereto.
        Mr Henderson responded accordingly.

        Itinerants in Palmerston and Darwin: The Minister for Housing (Mr Ah Kit) made a report on issues outlined in a report received by government concerning itinerancy in Darwin and outlying suburbs.
        Dr Lim responded thereto.
        Mr Ah Kit responded accordingly.

    6. NORTHERN TERRITORY EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING AUTHORITY AMENDMENT BILL 2002 (Serial 71); and NORTHERN TERRITORY EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING AUTHORITY (CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS) BILL 2002 (Serial 72):

        Extension of time: On the motion of the Leader of Government Business (Mr Stirling) the Member for Daly (Mr Baldwin) was granted an extension of time to complete his speech.

    14. EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING STRATEGY TO 2005 – MINISTERIAL STATEMENT – STATEMENT NOTED:
        The Minister for Employment, Education and Training (Mr Stirling) made a statement relating to the progress made in employment and training schemes outlined in the key elements of the Northern Territory Employment and Training Strategy to 2005. (Paper 457)
        Mr Stirling moved – That the Assembly take note of the Statement.
