Timor Sea Gas: The Chief Minister (Ms Martin) reported on the developments of the Timor Sea gas fields and the proposal to have treatment of the gas onshore in Darwin.

MAPs Testing: The Minister for Employment, Education and Training (Mr Stirling) reported to Members on the year 2000 results of the Multilevel Assessment Program (MAPs) testing benchmarks of Territory students.

Itinerants Research Project: The Minister for Community Development (Mr Ah Kit) reported on the recent Itinerants Research Projects report concerning Darwin and Palmerston districts.

6. CONDOLENCE - HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER – MOTION AGREED TO:
The Speaker advised Honourable Members of the death on 30 March 2002 of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and advised that with the concurrence of Members a motion of condolence be moved forthwith.
The Chief Minister (Ms Martin), by leave, moved – That this Assembly pass a motion of condolence for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
The Chief Minister (Ms Martin) thereupon addressed the Assembly.

7. CONDOLENCE - DAISY FLORENCE RUDDICK – MOTION AGREED TO:
The Speaker advised Members of the death of Daisy Florence Ruddick on 23 April 2002.
On behalf of all Members the Speaker extended a warm welcome to the family members.
Express deep regret at the death of Daisy Ruddick, a senior Territorian of great note;
Acknowledge her place as a highly respected matriarch of one of the Territory's largest extended families;
Recognise her outstanding contribution to tolerance in our community; and
Tender its profound sympathy to her family and friends.
The Chief Minister (Ms Martin) thereupon addressed the Assembly.
