10. BUILDING BETTER HOSPITALS - MINISTERIAL STATEMENT - STATEMENT NOTED:
- The Assembly met at 10am. The Speaker, the Honourable J. L. Aagaard, took the Chair.

- The Speaker advised members of the presence in the public galleries of Year 5/6 students for Moulden Primary School accompanied by Trudy Bland.
On behalf of all Members the Speaker extended a warm welcome to the visitors.
4. MINISTERIAL REPORTS:
- Police Recruitment: The Chief Minister (Ms Martin) reported on the graduation of police recruit squad 91 and her attendance at a recent NT Fire and Rescue Service graduation parade of new recruits.
Ms Carney responded.
Equine Influenza, Update: The Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries (Mr Natt) reported on the effects of Equine Flu in the Territory and the development of a response plan through the Territory's Disease Control Centre.

Tourism Trade Mission: The Minister for Tourism (Mr Henderson) reported on his visit to Brunei and Singapore to discuss improved airline services and capacity to Darwin from Royal Brunei Airlines, Tiger Airways, Singapore.

Desert Mob Exhibition: The Chief Minister (Ms Martin) reported on the Desert Mob art exhibition at the Araluen Art Centre, Alice Springs.

5. LEAVE OF ABSENCE - MEMBER FOR ARAFURA:
- The Leader of Government Business (Mr Henderson) moved - That leave of absence be granted to the Member for Arafura (Ms Scrymgour) for the remainder of this sitting day.

6. SUPERANNUATION LAW REFORM BILL 2007 (Serial 118):
- The Treasurer (Mr Stirling), pursuant to notice, presented a Bill for an Act to establish a superannuation scheme providing benefits on death or invalidity; to make other reforms to superannuation law; to amend the Superannuation Act and the Legislative Assembly Members' Superannuation Fund Act; and for other purposes.
Bill read a first time.
Mr Stirling moved - That the Bill be now read a second time.

- The Minister for Health (Dr Burns) made a statement relating to building better hospitals for Territorians.
Dr Burns moved - That the Assembly take note of the Statement.
Debate ensued.
Extension of time: On the motion of the Member for Jingili (Dr Burns) the Member for Millner (Mr Bonson) was granted an extension of time, pursuant to Standing Order 77.
