- The Assembly met at 10am. The Speaker, the Honourable J. L. Aagaard, took the Chair.

- The Member for Nelson (Mr Wood), by leave, presented a petition No. 61, not conforming with Standing Orders, from 355 petitioners relating to the amalgamation of the Litchfield Shire Council. (Paper 879)

- Radiation Oncology Unit, Darwin: The Minister for Health (Dr Burns) reported on the timing of the creation of a radiation oncology unit in Darwin.

Emirates Flights to Darwin, Tourism Seating Capacity: The Minister for Tourism (Mr Henderson) reported on his meetings with Emirates Airlines and other airline companies to encourage their services to Darwin as part of a package of tourism initiatives for the Territory.

Northern Territory Herbarium: The Minister for Natural Resources, Environment and Heritage (Ms Scrymgour) reported on the establishment and development over 53 years of the Northern Territory Herbarium in Palmerston and Alice Springs.

The Minister for Mines and Energy proceeding to answer the question -
Point of Order: The Leader of the Opposition (Ms Carney) raised a point of order.
Suspension of Standing Orders: The Leader of the Opposition (Ms Carney) then moved a motion to suspend so much of Standing Orders as would prevent her moving a motion to express a want of confidence in the Minister for Mines and Energy (Mr Natt).
The Leader of Government Business (Mr Henderson) informed the Assembly that the government accepted the motion as a want of confidence motion, pursuant to Standing Order 95.
The Leader of Government Business (Mr Henderson) asked that further questions be placed on the Written Question Paper.
- The Leader of the Opposition (Ms Carney) thereupon moved - That, The Assembly has no confidence in the Minister for Mines and Energy (Mr Natt) for his incompetence, and his inability to execute his duties as a Minister of the Crown. (Paper 884)
