3. CONDOLENCE - MR RODERICK CARSON OLIVER - MOTION AGREED TO:
- The Chief Minister (Ms Martin), by leave, moved - That this Assembly express its deep regret at the death of Mr Roderick (Rod) Oliver, a Member of the Legislative Assembly from 1977 until 1980; place on record its appreciation of his service to the people of the Northern Territory; and tender its profound sympathy to his family.
Ms Martin thereupon addressed the Assembly.

Visitors: The Speaker advised Members of the presence in the Public Galleries of students from the Batchelor Area School accompanied by Ms Susan Luong-Van, Ms Jan Thompson, Mr David Cunningham and Mr Bill Bean. On behalf of all Members the Speaker extended a warm welcome to the visitors.

BIMP-EAGA Ministerial Conference, Brunei, September 2005: The Chief Minister (Ms Martin) reported on her attendance at the BIMP-EAGA ministerial conference last month and the Territory's attainment of Development Partner Status representation together with the launch of our Business Portal.
Mr Mills responded thereto.
School Infrastructure Upgrades: The Treasurer (Mr Stirling) reported on the rolling-out of Capital Works programs for schools and upgrade of school infrastructure and future needs.
Mr Mills responded thereto.
Mr Stirling responded accordingly.
Nurse Recruitment Strategies: The Minister for Health (Dr Toyne) reported on the Health Department's Nurse Recruitment Program, including General Ward nurses, Remote Area nurses, and nurse retention rates.
Ms Carney responded thereto.
Dr Toyne responded accordingly.
Ministerial Reports noted, pursuant to Sessional Order.
5. STATUTE LAW REVISION BILL 2005 (Serial 24):
- The Minister for Justice and Attorney-General (Dr Toyne), pursuant to notice, presented a Bill for an Act to revise and correct the law of the Territory in minor respects.
Bill read a first time.
Dr Toyne moved - That the Bill be now read a second time.

11. SPORT AND RECREATION FOR THE TERRITORY - MINISTERIAL STATEMENT - STATEMENT NOTED:
- The Minister for Sport and Recreation (Ms Lawrie) made a statement relating to substantial Territory sporting achievements; establishment of sporting infrastructure; and important new initiatives to create recreation centres in major population centres and remote communities of the Territory.
Ms Lawrie moved - That the Assembly take note of the Statement.
