211. Fines Recovery Unit (FRU)

QUESTIONI would be grateful if you would provide the answers to the following questions in relation to the Justice Department's Budget for 2004-05. In order to assist you, please note that this question relates to output group: 2.0 Court Services (2.3: Fines Recovery Unit).
1. In the 2003-04 Budget, the Fines Recovery Unit (FRU) was allocated $770,000 , It is estimated that the FRU will exceed its budget and spend $973,000 in 2003-04 –
- (a) What were the reasons for this ; and
(b) Why is it necessary to increase the funding to FRU to $1.044m in the 2004-05 Budget.
