173. Community Corrections Orders

Ms Carney to MINISTER for Justice and Attorney-General

QUESTION

I would be grateful if you would provide the answers to the following questions in relation to the Justice Department's Budget for 2004-05. In order to assist you, please note that this question relates to output group: 3.0 Correctional Services (3.2: Community Corrections).

1. The successful completion of Community Corrections Orders is estimated to be 80% for 2003-04 and is reduced to 75% for 2004-05.

2. What happens to the remaining 20% or 15% who do not complete their orders?

3. Are they breached and if so what percentage of those who failed to complete their orders were breached in 2003-04 to date, (excluding home detention orders).

4. How many were sent to jail and how many received fines for their breaches?
