230. Allocation for the Drug Court

QUESTION

I would be grateful if you would provide the answer to the following question in relation to the Justice Department's Budget for 2004-05. In order to assist you, please note that this question relates to output group: 2.0 Court Services (2.2: Lower Courts & Tribunals).

1. At last year’s Estimates Committee hearing at page 199 of Hansard, a representative of the Department explained that there had been an “additional allocation for the Drug Court which comes under the auspices of the Lower Court” -

(a) Was the overrun in expenditure for the 2003-04 financial year caused by additional funding for the Drug Court; and

(b) If not, what was the cause of the overrun.
