Ms Carney to MINISTER for Public Employment
QUESTION
1. Why has the OCPE Budget blown out by over $1.3 million over 2004/2005.
2. Please provide where these blowouts occurred.
3. Why are you planning to slash the budget by almost $1 million this financial year - what have they done wrong.
4. What services and advice will be cut because of the Budget slash.

The Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment does not have a budget blow out. The $1.296 variation is attributed to one off adjustments including the establishment costs for NT Build, NTGPASS Test Case, and revenue collected in advance for programs such as the Public Sector Management and Executive Management and Leadership Development Programs. In addition, and like other agencies, OCPE received a number of budget variations throughout the year.

Establishment costs for the NT Build $646,000
NTGPASS Test Case $ 25,000
Use of Balances for unearned revenue $256,000
EBA 5% increase $ 72,000
Other ( including parameters and other Goods

The question does not make sense and appears to be based on a misunderstanding of the budget papers.
Question 4
No services will be cut in 2005/06. The question appears to have been prompted by a misunderstanding of the budget papers.
