In regard to the Department of Lands, Planning and the Environment, how many -
(a) Plumbing Inspectors are employed by the Department;
(b) Plumbing audits did the Department carry out during 1998/99; and
(c) drainage works were registered with the Department in 1998/99.


ANSWER

(a) The Department currently has one qualified plumbing technical officer located in Darwin and an existing vacancy is being reassessed as part of the overall review of the Building Advisory Services Branch. At the moment the building technical officers carry out plumbing audits in Alice Springs.

(b) 425 plumbing audits were carried out during 1998/99; and

(c) There were 957 mandatory notifications registered for drainage works during 1998/99.
