1. What number of subsidised:

(a) containers; and

(b) container equivalents,

were transported on the subsidised shipping service between Darwin and Ujung Pandang in the 1993-94 financial year.

2. What number of these containers and container equivalents were carried:

ANSWER

1. As the service, not the cargo carried, is subsidised, no subsidised containers or container equivalents were moved. However, 59 containers were carried on the service during financial year 1993/94 and 876.1936 tonnes of break bulK cargo - equivalent to approximately 51 containers under the agreement - were moved.

2. (a) 1.5 tonnes of break bulk cargo was carried on the north bound leg;

(b) all the containers carried during this period were south bound as was the remaining 874.6936 tonnes of break bulk cargo.
