Facilities and Function Rooms

Parliament House has a number of rooms and other areas that may be hired for functions, exhibitions, conferences and meetings subject to the approval of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.  In cases where Parliament House facilities are hired by external organisations, commercial rates apply.  Clients should familiarise themselves with the Functions Manual which is hyperlinked for easy reference.  Inquiries relating to Parliament House facilities should be directed to the Functions Officer.

Speaker's Green

The Speaker's Green is a turfed terrace on the Esplanade side of Parliament House featuring the Memorial Fountain and overlooking Darwin Harbour.

Litchfield Room

The Litchfield Room is a meeting and conference room with recording facilities including video conferencing and access to a small balcony.  It can seat up to 70 people theatre style.  The Litchfield Room is not suitable for dining or cocktail functions.  This room is within a working Committees area.  Clients are required to keep noise to a minimum and conduct personal business (phone calls, etc) in the public areas on the Mezzanine.

Ormiston Room

The Ormiston Room is a meeting and conference room with access to a small balcony.  It can seat up to 45 people theatre style.  The Ormiston Room is not suitable for dining or cocktail functions.  This room is within a working Committees area.  Clients are required to keep noise to a minimum and conduct personal business (phone calls, etc) in the public areas on the Mezzanine.

 Elsey Room

The Elsey Room is purpose built for media conferences and has lighting to broadcast standard (ie for television).  It can seat up to 40 people theatre style and is not suitable for dining or cocktail functions.  This room is within a working Committees area.  Clients are required to keep noise to a minimum and conduct personal business (phone calls, etc) in the public areas on the Mezzanine.

Dining Room and Nitmiluk Lounge

The Main Dining Room (approximately 340 sqm) when combined with the Nitmiluk Lounge (approximately 90 sqm) on level 4 has access to two balconies overlooking the harbour and CBD and can accommodate up to 228 people.  When used as a dining room alone, it can accommodate up to 160 people and has access to one balcony.

Northern Territory Library

Entry to the Northern Territory Library is through the Historic Lobby off the Main Hall. The Library provides reference and research services to the Northern Territory community and has an extensive Northern Territory Collection. Because it is a reference library, there is no capacity for borrowing books.

Opening hours for the Northern Territory Library are from 10am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays and 1pm to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

tactileARTS

This is the retail outlet of the Crafts Council of the Northern Territory and is located in the main foyer of Parliament House.

All items available for sale in the shop have been crafted by Northern Territory artists.

Subject to the availability of volunteer staff, the craft shop is open from 09.30am to 3.30pm Mondays to Fridays and from 9am to 2pm on Saturdays.

Speaker's Corner Cafe

The cafe can be accessed from the Main Hall or the adjacent area of Speaker's Green. It is open from 8am to 4pm Mondays to Fridays. The cafe offers a range of meals, light refreshments, an al fresco dining area and is licensed.
